George Boubouras Joins ESSSuper

George Boubouras has recently been appointed to the board of ESSSuper, the fund catering to emergency services and Victorian government employees, effective February 6, 2024. With over 25 years of experience in the financial sector, George brings a wealth of expertise to his new role. He began his career as an economist at esteemed institutions such as Westpac, NSW Treasury, and SBC (now UBS), before transitioning into senior positions within the asset management industry.

Throughout his career, George has held prominent roles such as Chief Investment Officer (CIO) and Managing Director (MD) at leading firms like Contango, Equity Trustees, UBS, and Salter Brothers. His extensive experience spans managing investments across various asset classes and leading high-performing teams and businesses within the industry.

Aside from his professional endeavors, George is deeply passionate about education and research. He serves as a part-time lecturer in finance and holds a visiting fellowship at The University of Adelaide. Additionally, he sits on the advisory board of the International Centre for Financial Services (ICFS) at the university. Furthermore, George is actively involved in the asset management sector, serving as a director and investment advisor at Salter Brothers Asset Management (SBAM) and a member of the investment committee at Paua Wealth Management in Auckland, New Zealand. He also holds the position of Managing Director, Head of Research, Investments, and Advisory at K2 Asset Management (K2).

Beyond his professional commitments, George is dedicated to contributing to the community and sports sectors. He has served as a Director of the Blues Foundation at The Carlton Football Club, one of the oldest Australian rules football clubs. Moreover, he has held roles as an Executive Director of the International Centre for Financial Services at the University of Adelaide Business School and as a Director at Women in Banking and Finance, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting gender diversity in the financial industry.

The current appointment term is effective until February 5, 2027
